Social Integration:

Bangladeshi Diaspora Council Promotes peaceful co-existence among communities in different countries in Bangladesh.

In a broader view, social integration is a dynamic and structured process in which all members participate in dialogue to achieve and maintain peaceful social relations. Social integration is focused on the need to move toward a safe, stable and just society by mending conditions of social disintegration, social exclusion, social fragmentation, exclusion and polarization, and by expanding and strengthening conditions of social integration towards peaceful social relations of coexistence, collaboration and cohesion.

The cultural activities organized by The Bangladeshi Global Diaspora Council (BDGDC) support creativity and self-expression but also work as a “bridge” for bringing together and understanding people coming from different cultural backgrounds. These activities are based on the premise that cultural integration can assist in realizing a holistic social integration, both in terms of equal access to cultural goods but also in regards to reinforcing social cohesion.

Entrepreneurial skills training, one of the 4 program elements for the The Bangladeshi Global Diaspora Council (BDGDC), provides the basics of starting and operating a small business for youths. This training helps youths develop the skills associated with entrepreneurship, such as the ability to take initiative, creatively seek out and identify business opportunities, develop budgets and forecast resource needs, understand various options for acquiring capital and the trade-offs associated with each option, and communicate effectively and market oneself and one’s ideas.

Our approaches to teaching youths on entrepreneurial skills are:

  • Entrepreneurship education: This provides an introduction to the values and basics of starting and running a business, such as developing a business plan and simulations of business start-up and operation.
  • Enterprise development: provides supports and services that incubate and help youth develop their own businesses, such as helping them on information on available loans or grants and providing more individualized attention to the development of viable business ideas.
  • Experiential programs that provide youth with experience in the day-to-day operation of a business.

YOUTH LEADERSHIP

At The Bangladeshi Global Diaspora Council (BDGDC), we develop young people’s Leadership Skills so they have the confidence and authority to make a real difference in their lives and organizations they work. We have more than 5 years of youth leadership development experience, providing young people opportunities — whether they are just getting started in service-learning, sharpening their focus on education equity, or strengthening communities through youth leadership.

The Bangladeshi Global Diaspora Council (BDGDC) hosts camps and training across Bangladesh that powers the next generation of leaders. These camps and training give young people the support and resources to address issues faced by communities– and make meaningful change happen.
